“Damned homicidal maniacs!” growled the brunette, gesturing at some apparently ill-mannered paperwork.
Her partner wisely refrained from pointing out that, as homicide detectives, homicidal maniacs were their bread and butter. “What’s the problem? Lindsay, we got a confession!” He said, trying to placate the obviously annoyed woman. “What’s got your panties in a twist anyway?”
Jacobi neatly avoided his wildly gesticulating partner and shoved a coffee under her nose. “Not that you need it, but extra caramel anyway.”
“Thanks,” she grouched.
“Two days,” she muttered. “Two days and I haven’t had time to do – anything!” she ranted, ignoring the fact that Jacobi had shared the exact same horrendous schedule as she’d had.
“Anything, like, what?”
“How in hell am I supposed to get something Christmas-y done when I’m saddled with this moron?”
“Excuse me? You, the hater of all holidays, have something Christmas-y to get done?”
“I don’t hate holidays!”
“Uh-huh.”
“I don’t!”
Jacobi gave her a look of disbelief.
“Ok, so I don’t handle holidays well. I mean, who does, really? Especially all this gift-giving nonsense.” Lindsay attempted to plead her case.
“I hear you did pretty good with Claire recently,” offered her partner.
“That was – wait a minute! How did you know about that?”
“I do talk to my friends you know.”
“Ok, I got it right. ONCE.”
“I say go classic, give her a nice card and offer to take her out to dinner.”
“What?! Who?”
Jacobi walked over to his stunned partner and patted her on the back. “It's ok Boxer, I’m sure you’ll figure it out.”
